A collapse of the Churchyard Wall
After an exceptionally windy night on 3rd November 2022, Eric Robinson arrived at the church to officiate at a funeral. He found that a 12 metre section of the wall had fallen over, trapping a tup, which had obviously been sheltering from the wind. A telephone call to our team of troubleshooters meant that the tup was released, miraculously uninjured, before the funeral cortege arrived. It is a serious collapse and shows that much of that length of wall is liable to go the same way, especially where there is or has been ivy growing on it. Our insurance will not pay under these circumstances, so we are about to embark on fundraising in order to put this right. It is likely to cost in excess of £10,000.00 to mend.
